A Poetic Urban Fable in a Laundromat - The English World Premiere
Pau Miró is one of Barcelona’s most produced and exciting new playwrights. Buffalos is part of his acclaimed trilogy which includes Giraffes and Lions. His work has been performed at the National Theatre of Catalonia and in International Festivals throughout Catalonia. This play has been considered “a text charged with expressive strength and poetic breath - an intrigue that wraps the audience in the spiral of mystery that offers us a vivid mirror to our behaviour." (Francesc Massip, Avui)
Director Bentley-Fisher attributes the play’s power to its extraordinary use of poetry and theatricality as the playwright brings together the characteristics of the human and animal world. Five teenage siblings try to find order in a world that has seen them lose a father to an electric guitar, a brother to a lion, and a mother to bingo and the church. The play is funny and tragic, chaotic and gentle, punctuated with original live music and the chronic discords of what should never have been said.
Tant per Tant is pleased to produce such an original and vital piece of work. We’re sure it will entertain and challenge audiences in Saskatoon and throughout Canada.
